A NEW bungalow will be "shoehorned" in between two properties in Lowther Road, Prestwich.
The single-storey house will replace an existing garage at the rear of Duckworth Road.
Neighbours objected to the plans, expressing fears over visibility and access to the site.
Resident Alan Millington said the new property would overshadow the homes next to it.
The applicant, Zofia Moghimi, said her current home, which has a number of steps, will not be suitable for her because she has arthritis.
She said: “As I get older I need to get somewhere more suitable for myself. I can’t see any reason why I can’t build a small bungalow on the property.”
Ward councillor Eamonn O'Brien also spoke against the plans.
Cllr Jackie Harris described the bungalow, which would be shoehorned in, as "intrusive" overdevelopment.
The plans were approved at a planning committee meeting on Tuesday.
