A LIFELONG Bolton Wanderers fan received a special visitor this week — almost two months after suffering a heart attack while watching his heroes.

Jim Waite was at the Whites home game with Leeds United on December 15 when his health took a turn for the worse.

He was immediately rushed to hospital, where he spent underwent emergency surgery.

After spending Christmas and New Year in hospital, he is now back home and on the mend.

And in a bid to put a smile on his face, Whites star Craig Noone visited him at his Ramsbottom home on Thursday.

Speaking after the visit, Noone said: “It was a pleasure to visit Jim — he’s a huge Bolton fan and to be able to cheer him up after a rough couple of months is a real pleasure.

"When he's fully back on his feet, it will be great to see him back at the University of Bolton Stadium and I'll absolutely be popping along to see him when he does get back here for a game."

Mr Waite's son Ben, who was at the match with him, added: "My parents appreciated Craig's visit so much- when I spoke to them afterwards, they said how lovely he was and what a pleasure it was to have him in their home.

"Having been with Dad when he suffered the heart attack, I would just like to say that the steward and medical team who assisted us were outstanding in their speed and professionalism in the way they handled the situation.

"They had him wired up, diagnosed and dedicated extremely quickly and as such have minimised the damage done to his heart and essentially saved his life on the day.

"Without Bolton Wanderers and the team they have in place, it could so easily have been a completely different situation right now, so myself and my family would like to thank the club for everything they have done for us."
