WINTRY weather is causing chaos across the borough as a blast of snow rolls through the region.

Forecaster's predicated yesterday that Bury faced a 90 per cent chance of snow hitting, and true to their word the white stuff began falling in a steady stream this morning.

The weather has wreaked havoc on some of the borough's roads.

In Ramsbottom and the north of the borough drivers are facing hazardous conditions on the roads and are advised to take caution.

There are long delays for people travelling through Ramsbottom after a lorry became stuck on Bolton Street.

The knock-on effects are being felt in Bridge Street and Bury New Road.

Several schools have also shut their doors early.

However in the south of the borough Bury has been transformed into a winter wonderland as snowfall covers Prestwich and Whitefield.

Heaton Park was transformed into a picturesque snowscape and elsewhere a scenic blanket was beginning to build up.
