PLANS have been submitted to transform a block of offices into apartments.

NHS Property Services has lodged the application for prior approval to turn the four-storey building on the corner of Silver Street and Broad Street in Bury town centre into 19 apartments.

If approved, the block would comprise one and two bedroom apartments.

The base was the home of Bury Clinical Commissioning Group until June last year when it relocated to its new headquarters at Townside Primary Care Centre, in Knowsley Street.

The CCG is a commissioner of health services for the local population and plans and purchases a range of services including those provided in hospitals, out in the community and also GP services.

The Silver Street building was leased to the body from NHS Property Services, and has had long established links with the NHS. Archive records suggest it has been used for NHS business since the early 1950s.
