A CHARITY masquerade ball has helped to raise more than £14,000 for a pair of charities.

The glamorous event was held at the Fisherman’s Retreat on November 10, and saw dozens of local business owners enjoy a meal, an auction, a raffle, and live music from band ‘Hit the Dance Floor’.

The ball was organised by Karan Lee and hosted by Lifestyle Sales and Lettings, which is based in Whalley Road, and sold out weeks in advance.

The money raised at the event will be split between Bury Hospice and PSPA, with each receiving £7,412.33.

The funds were raised in memory of Ms Duffin’s mother’s husband who died from progressive supranuclear palsy earlier this year, and spent time at the hospice during the final weeks of his life.

She said: “It was the most amazing night with fun, laughter, great food and wine and non stop dancing to the live band.

“We were overwhelmed by the generosity of the people and business owners of Ramsbottom who gave so much for the raffle prizes.

“Myself, my mum and the charities involved can’t thank everyone enough.”

A host of local businesses sponsored the event.
