A EUROPEAN Blues Awards nominated band are playing a special homecoming gig at The Met.

Simon Campbell and his wife Suzy Starlite front the four-piece Starlite Campbell band, who recently headlined the Wangaratta Jazz and Blues Festival in Australia.

Last year, their debut album Blueberry Pie was nominated for Best Album at the European Blues Awards.

Bury-born Campbell was also nominated for a British Blues Award in 2011, and has featured in a number of local bands over the years, including Whitefire, The Disciples, The Method, Roadrunner and Little Brother.

The chance to come back to Bury for a gig at the Met is one that he’s relishing.

He said: “I fondly remember playing at the previous incarnation of The Met, Summerseat Players in Ramsbottom, The Albert Halls in Bolton and The Ramsbottom Festival in 2015.

“The audiences were always fantastic and we had a ball.

“Having travelled halfway around the world to headline a major festival in Australia, I can’t wait to play a gig on my home turf and see everyone again.”

The band describe their sound as British Blues in a similar vein to Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac, John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers and early Led Zeppelin.

Along with Simon and Suzy, the band features Jonny Henderson on keyboard and Steve Gibson on drums.

The concert will be held in The Met’s Derby Hall on Friday December 14, with support from the Mighty Revelators.

Tickets are priced at £17 and are available online at themet.org.uk.
