BURY'S award-winning black pudding is due to feature on prime time television.

ITV 4's Made in Britain series is due to give viewers a 'behind the scenes' look at the workings of Bury Black Pudding Company Ltd.

The 10-part series centres on the ways in which many of Britain’s most iconic brands are made.

Bury Black Pudding Company was due to feature in episode seven of the latest series on Tuesday, November 6, but was rescheduled to a later date, yet to be announced.

Narrated by Jimmy Nail, the programme will tell the story of how Bury's black pudding is created; revealing the raw ingredients, how they are mixed and blended, the production stages, the cooking and cooling processes, how the puddings are packaged, through to being loaded into a distribution van.

However, the hour-long programme will not reveal the secret ingredients — the herb and spice blend — that makes the recipe so unique.

Peter Winkler, the firm's Brand & Marketing Manager, said: "It is always nice to be featured on television but this is particularly special because it is about iconic products associated with locations across Britain and it is nice to have our brand selected.

"The programme tells the start to finish story of the process of making our black pudding."

Film crews visited Bury Black Pudding Company at their factory in Bridgehall Lane in August and kept the cameras rolling for two days as they shadowed staff and learnt about everything from the inception to completion of the infamous product.

During the visit, production director Richard Morris shared about the black pudding recipe that has been in his family for three generations.

Crews also filmed Jon Jones, the new Head Chef at The Clarence in Silver Street, Bury, who shows viewers how to cook the Black Pudding Company's products.

ITV 4 will also feature Bury Black Pudding's long-established stall on Bury Market — Stall No 5, Edward Block.
