MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months after he pleaded guilty to affray in Bury on October 9.

At Manchester Magistrates' Court Matthew Rampley, aged 23, of Parr Lane, Bury, was also ordered to participate in 25 days of rehabilitation activities.

A restraining order was made preventing him from contacting his victim.

A WOMAN who failed to identify the driver of a Land Rover Defender to police on December 6 last year has been fined £660 by Manchester magistrates.

The case against Gillian Glover, aged 44, of Bolton Road, Bury, was proved. In addition to the fine Glover was banned from holding a driving licence for six months and ordered to pay £151 in costs and charges.

A SHOPLIFTER who stole head shavers and toiletries gift sets from B&M Stores, Bury and harassed a woman, has been jailed for four weeks.

Manchester magistrates heard how Lee Mellor, aged 31, of Walk Road, Bury, committed the offences in July.

In addition to the prison sentence Mellor was ordered to pay £155.96 in compensation.

A DRINK driver who who was caught behind the wheel of a Skoda Fabia after drinking more than double the legal level of alcohol has been banned from holding a licence for 17 months. At Manchester Magistrates' Court Jorge Davies, aged 24, of Haseley Close, Radcliffe, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on Bolton and Bury Road on September 9.

He was also fined £120 and ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges.

A SHOPLIFTER who targeted stores in Bury, stealing goods worth hundreds of pounds, has been jailed for 48 weeks by Manchester magistrates.

Brett Barlow, aged 38, of Goldfinch Drive, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offences,which included stealing a throw, headphones, sportswear, and bedding. He initially denied the offences, which also included attempted burglary and assault, but then changed his plea to guilty. He was ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.
