VIDEO footage shows a high speed police chase through the centre of Bolton this morning.

The drama unfolded shortly before 12.45am when police officers spotted a Kia being driven at speed in Blackburn Road.

When the vehicle failed to stop, a chase ensued.

A police car pursued the vehicle down Blackburn Road, onto Kay Street and then St Peter's Way, eventually reaching speeds of more than 110 miles per hour.

Luckily, there were few cars on the road at the time.

Footage from the police car's dash cam captured the high speed pursuit before the Kia headed off in the direction of Great Lever.

Despite their best efforts, officers were unable to keep up with the car, which is believed to have been stolen from the Bramhall area of Stockport.

Three men got out of the car, leaving it abandoned in Rishton Lane.

Enquiries are ongoing to track down the three men who were in the car.

Meanwhile, traffic officers also pursued a Vauxhall Astra after it failed to stop in Manchester Road, Over Hulton.

The vehicle drove the wrong way down a motorway slip road during the chase, which reached speeds of up to 120mph.

After spotting the vehicle in the early hours of this morning, officers followed it onto the M61 and onto the M60, where it drove the wrong way down the slip road at junction nine, for the Trafford Centre.

The car then ran out of petrol and the driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving with no licence, and no insurance.

He also tested positive for cocaine and cannabis.
