MUSIC lovers, sports fans and foodies are all being urged to allow more time for their journeys tomorrow ahead of another big day of events across the region.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) is advising anyone travelling across the city-region on Saturday to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra time if travelling into or around the areas where events are taking place.

Trafford is likely to be busy with sports fans gearing up for two big games in the area with Manchester United playing Wolves and Sale Sharks clashing with Wasps and both matches kicking off at 3pm.

Elsewhere, lovers of spicy food and liquid refreshment will be flocking to the Curry and Beer Festival at the BEC Arena in Trafford Park, while later in the day music lovers will be heading to the Manchester Arena to see the ‘queen of country pop’ – Shania Twain.

Additionally, industrial action affecting Northern Rail Services is likely to cause significant disruption to rail services on the day.

TfGM’s Event and Planning Lead, Ryan Carter, said: “It’s another exciting day for Greater Manchester on Saturday, with events taking place up and down the region.

“Whilst these big event days are always challenging, we are confident we have the level of experience required to cope with the extra demand and help keep our customers moving.

“Our advice to anyone going to these events, or travelling around the local area, is to plan ahead and consider all transport options available to you.

“We will be putting on as many available trams as possible on the day, travelling to and from Old Trafford, and monitoring the road network with our 24 hour control centre”.
