THE bomb squad have returned to a Whitefield street following the arrest of two men under the Terrorism Act.
They were called to Victoria Avenue yesterday after receiving a report of suspicious items at a house.
Police also attended and following an initial assessment, two men – both in their 20s - were arrested.
Victoria Avenue, as well as a number of surrounding streets, were taped off all afternoon while bomb disposal officers surrounded the house.
They left the scene yesterday evening and no explosive materials had been found at the time.
A police spokesman said that 'following further examinations of the address today, bomb disposal officers have returned to the street to carry out more enquiries'.
Restricted access to Victoria remains in place today (June 6) owing to an ongoing investigation.
Residents are being asked to use Lancaster Avenue for access to Whitefield Community Primary School.
