Saturday’s third fixture of the Red Rose Cross Country League was unusually held at Sefton Park in Liverpool. The league organisers used the opportunity to hold the fixture as part of the British Athletics Challenge giving local athletes the opportunity to compete against the very best cross country runners in the UK. There were some superb performances from Bury athletes.
A squad of 25 athletes from Bury travelled to Ashton on Sunday to endure the sweltering temperatures at the third Cheshire Track and Field League fixture of the season.
FOUR Bury AC members competed at the Trafford Grand Prix at Stretford where Matthew Collister delivered a winning performance in a thrilling 1500m senior E race where he prevailed in a battle down the home straight to win in 4mins 35:39secs.
EMILY Purdy stormed to glory at the English Schools’ Fell Running Championships in Sedburgh.
WITH the ending of the second period of lockdown Bury Athletic Club has commenced operating again.
HANNAH Price produced the run of the weekend for Bury at the Tatton Park 10k on Sunday.
Eight Bury athletes made the journey to Stretford to compete in Sunday’s Trafford Open meeting and they were all rewarded with personal best performances in their events.
The Longford Park stadium in Stretford was the only location where Bury athletes could find competition over the weekend and five members of Bury AC made the journey.
The slow return to normal competition for Bury AC athletes continued over the weekend.
