MY heart went out last week to the parents of murdered teenage model Amy Barnes after her killer challenged his conviction and sentence.
Ricardo Morrison, the 23-year-old currently serving a minimum of 24 years for stabbing to death the popular Farnworth 19-year-old, not only refuses to acknowledge his crime, but cares nothing for the feelings of her family.
His challenge in the Court of Appeal must have brought back all the agony once more for Amy’s father, Andrew, and mother, Karyn, and was another horrible milestone to get over.
Morrison may be in denial over his crime, but it is Amy’s parents who have been handed the worst punishment — life without their much-loved daughter. Whatever happens to him will never equal that terrible loss.
