Extra break helps weary Tigers

SEDGLEY Tigers have been given the chance to lick their wounds and begin the second half of the season in style.

The National League One side were due a weekend off because of the holiday period, but that has been stretched to a fortnight after last week’s game against Redruth was called off at the last minute.

The Cornish team made the long journey as the pitch appeared playable, but when the temperature stayed below freezing, the game was reluctantly postponed.

But Tigers’ head coach Rich Senior, although disappointed that the Redruth clash was postponed, admitted it gave his troops time to recharge their batteries.

He said: “It gives the players a good chance to recover. We were looking forward to a week off over Christmas but this has given us an extra week.

“There are one or two players carrying knocks and they will have a good chance to recover. Hopefully they will return more eager and fresher and ready to play again. It gives the body a chance to recover.”

On Saturday Sedgley travel to Stourbridge, a side just two places above them in the table.
