SEDGLEY Tigers had a rare slice of luck which could help see them finish their relegation season with some silverware.
The Whitefield side will be playing in National League Two next season, mainly due to a horrendous run of injuries throughout the season.
But they will get the chance to win the Lancashire Cup on their own Park Lane ground after they and fellow finalists Preston Grasshoppers agreed to toss a coin for home advantage in the final.
“Rather than play on a neutral venue, we decided to toss for venue on Saturday,” said Tigers first-team coach Geoff Roberts.
“And we won, so we’ll be on our own ground for the final on Monday.”
Despite dropping down from the third tier of the rugby union pyramid, Sedgley have shown consistently that they are a match for anyone.
And they did it again on Saturday in a hard-fought clash with fourth-placed Rosslyn Park.
“We were leading 10-3 at half time and still ahead and playing expansive rugby until we were done by two interceptions,” said Roberts.
“That’s the way it’s gone for us this season but we’ll keep going to the end.”
Tigers complete their league season at home to Loughborough Students on Saturday, kick off 3pm.
