The cream of the borough's talent haad their achievements recognised during an awards ceremony at the Town Hall.
Lancashire County Cricket Club captain Mark Chilton joined the Mayor and Mayoress of Bury to hand out the awards, and over 250 people were in attendance at the Elizabethan Suite.
Boxer Scott Quigg won the Young Sportsman of the Year award after a sparkling year in the ring for Bury ABC culminated in him winning the gold medal while representing England in an international tournament.
The Young Sportswoman of the Year award went to Sophie Mason. The 13-year-old Tottington High School has just been called up to the England Under-15s fencing squad after some fine performances for Salle Kiss Fencing Club, where she is trained by former Hungarian champion Robert Kiss.
In a double success for the club, Matthew Fitton was named International Sportsperson of the Year after he was also picked to represent England in Paris.
European Vets Cycle Speedway champion Fred Rothwell was crowned Veteran Sportsperson of the year, while the under-19 Bury Cycle Speedway club squad picked up the Team of the Year prize.
A fine year in the world of Boccia saw Zoe Robinson pick up the Disabled Sports Achiever of the Year award, and Coach of the Year was John Stainton, of Bury Blue Devils Basketball Club.
Radcliffe Angling Club's Shaun Miller is the Official of the Year, while Eastbury Junior Football Club's Dean Mason won the Dorothy Counter Volunteer of the Year award.
Bolton Association cricket champions Elton were named Club of the Year after numerous successes from their first team through to the junior sides.
Broad Oak Sports College won the Gerald Barrett Secondary School Award, while the Geoff Preston Primary School Award went to St Paul's.
Sarah Newport, Selina Wain, Faye Bushell, Stephen Newport and Simon Chadwick were rewarded for their community development schemes at Jigsaw Sports Club, and Radcliffe Athletic Club's Terry Nortley won the Ronnie Morris Award. The Joe Moon Award went to the Howarth Family, of Bury Cycle Speedway Club.
Bury Juniors FC, Elton and Walshaw FC, Brooksbottom CC and Prestwich CC all announced they have been awarded their Club Mark to cap a fine night.
Bury MBC Sports Development Officer Carly Ibbott said: "The Bury Sports Awards proved a very enjoyable evening for everyone involved.
"The ceremony, organised by the Bury Metro Sports Forum and Bury Sports Development Team, allowed Bury to showcase the success stories and achievements of local people that contribute to the development of sport.
"It is important to recognise and reward those who have dedicated many hours training to fulfil their dreams, or volunteering, to help others reach their goals."
