New man at the helm
PRESTWICH Heys AFC continued their off-the-field restructuring when John Carroll was appointed Chairman of the Sandgate Road outfit.
John Hunter had been in the role in a "caretaker" capacity since Adie Moran's death last summer but a hectic work schedule has meant he could not commit to the position long-term.
Unanimously voted in at a committee meeting last Wednesday, Carroll is relishing the chance to help push Heys forward up the non-league ladder.
"Having watched Heys' success over the last few years, when the opportunity came along to come on board as chairman of this fantastic club, I took it without hesitation," said Carroll.
Salford-born Carroll lives in Unsworth, and he said is looking beyond the North West Counties League as a long-term objective of the club.
He added: "I would like to carry on Adie's hopes and dreams and continue the fine work he started on getting this club back on the non-league map.
"Getting the ground work done and moving in to the Counties is the first, very important step, but then we need to look further ahead with UniBond League status our long-term goal."
