RUNAWAY Manchester League Division One leaders Bury Amateurs enjoyed a nail-biting victory over fourth-placed West Didsbury.
They took the lead when, from Craig Hickford’s long throw, Pete Hickford lashed a shot past the visiting keeper.
Pete Hickford was then involved in the second goal when Andy Kennedy headed home after the former’s free-kick had rebounded off the post.
Pietro Carinci looked like he had made the game safe from the spot after Craig Hickford was hauled down in the area.
But the visitors showed plenty of fight to reduce the arrears with two well-taken goals in the final 20 minutes.
The Ammies visit one of their closest title challengers, Breightmet United, on Saturday, kick-off 2pm.
