Loye pitches up for youngsters
LANCASHIRE and England star Mal Loye helped celebrate the outstanding achievements of Prestwich Cricket Club's junior teams.
He was the special guest at a presentation evening on Friday marking the league title wins of the Under-17s, Under-15s, Under 13s and Under-11s, who shared their championship.
The club's team managers and coaches were praised by cricket chairman Brian Lorenzini, in a season where several junior players cemented places in the senior sides.
The clean sweep of league titles by the youngsters added to the senior success of league and cup doubles for the first and second teams.
Also present on the night was ex-Lancashire captain Warren Hegg.
The individual award winners were: Under-17s: batting - Richard Scargill; bowling - Tom Ward; fielding - Adam Cheshire; most improved player - Nick Carter.
Under-15s: batting - Tom Barling; bowling - Tom Barling; fielding - Tom Gibson; most improved player - Nick Carter.
Under-13s: batting - James Wharmby; bowling - Abdullah Khan; fielding - Michael Ferguson; most improved player - Greg Carter.
Under-11s: batting - Lewis Smith; bowling - Dominic Humphreys; fielding - Bradley Clough; most improved player - Zak Wood.
