STAND continue to search for their first win since promotion to Division One of the Greater Manchester League after yet again coming up just short.

After bowling out Greenmount for 77 in their opening game but still managing to lose, they were undone by another poor batting display against Flowery Field on Saturday.

Matt Curphey's 30 did at least push them past the 100 mark, but their score of 145 was always going to be difficult to defend.

They very nearly did it, though, as club pro Ali Azmat took 4-36 and Jamie King backed him up with 3-40.

But the home side limped over the line with one wicket to spare, thanks in no small part to an unbeaten 34 from number eight batsman Mike Burns.
