PRESTWICH Heys have renamed their Sandgate Road ground Adie Moran Park.

Heys chose Sunday’s annual Adie Moran Day to announce the change from Grimshaw Park.

The Moran family were present for the announcement with the unveiling of signage that will sit permanently on the halfway line between the dugouts.

Moran, pictured, led Heys through one of the most successful periods in their history between 2002 and 2007, including three successive Manchester League Premier Division titles before his untimely death in 2007.

He also led the way in driving forward the development of the ground at Sandgate Road from a former school field to the enclosed facility it is now.

An inspiration to a generation of players at Prestwich Heys and admired across the football fraternity, the club believe the renaming of the ground as Adie Moran Park is a fitting and lasting tribute to the memory of a much-missed club legend.
