SEDGLEY Tigers suffered a double setback at the weekend when, not only did they crash to a heavy defeat, but lost key player Phil Jones for the rest of the season.
The talented fly-half snapped an Achilles tendon, a painful and serious injury which will leave him sidelined for months.
It all added up to a bad day at the office for coach Rich Senior who saw his side outplayed by Tynedale.
“We didn't play very well and looked rusty,” he admitted.
“It has been frustrating for us not being able to train outside for a month and it showed in our performance.
“The loss of Phil is a body blow as he is a key player but we have to regroup and move on. We have two players in Dominic Kohler and Richard Wainwright who are capable of stepping in.”
Tigers have three successive home games and Senior is looking to return to winning ways on Saturday against Blackheath — a side just one place above them in the league — and trying to find the consistency that has ben lacking in their performances.
He added: “We have to pick ourselves up and we have been working hard on out attack and defence.
“If we can't get consistent performances we can't get consistent results.
“Blackheath beat us with the last touch of the game earlier in the season so we will be going all out to avenge that result.”
Centre Chris Hall is doubtful with a knee injury to add to Senior’s problems, but fellow centre Lisiate Tafa is expected to return.
