Atmosphere at Radcliffe FC 'never been better' as club looks to future

The newly-crowned Northern Premier League champions will play their final game of the season against 11th-placed Gainsborough Trinity tomorrow, Saturday, at 3pm.

And there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic after the success on the pitch.

Joint managers, Bernard Morley and Anthony Johnson, who joined The Boro last May, have been instrumental in the club's title win.

Media manager Kieran Wilson said: “Becoming champions by such a margin is an incredible achievement and perhaps beyond anything any of us could've dreamed of.

“The atmosphere around the club has never been better, as it will be when you've won the league, but even before we'd kicked a ball as soon as Bernard (Morley) and Jonno entered the building it was like a switch had been flicked and everything went up a notch.

“The standards, ethos and professionalism has been brandished throughout the club both on and off the pitch and now we can reap the rewards.”

Aside from the league, Radcliffe also reached the 4th round of the FA Trophy, narrowly losing 2-1 in an impressive performance against Barnet, who finished 2nd in the National League this season.

The impressive performances in the league and against higher opposition in the cup leaves plenty of room for optimism around the club for next season.

Kieran said: “With the squad we currently have, and perhaps a few new signings in the summer, we'll be a threat to a lot of teams in the National League North.

“There's no pressure on us with it being the club's first ever season in step two, and we may surprise a few sides, you never know what can happen in football.”

Regarding preparation for next season, Kieran said that the club are relatively covered in most bases in terms of upgrades.

He added: “The stadium has more than enough seats and the facilities are quite good.”
