SEDGLEY Tigers will face old foes Stockport in National League two North next season as one of four new opponents.

Ampthill and District, Hull Ionians and Broadstreet will all be new visitors to Park Lane with the latter up first on opening day on September 6.

But it is the renewal of hostilities with local rivals Stockport that will add spice in the first few weeks with a trip to Cheshire the first away fixture.

The new derby game resurrects what used to be a regular league fixture between the two clubs when Stockport were known as Davenport.

Tigers first met Davenport in the 1989/90 season in North West One Level Seven. However, the last time the two teams met was back in 1994/95.

On that occasion, a Paul Egan-inspired Sedgley went to Stockport (renamed) and won 37-0 on the way to winning the league.

The other new faces also include familiar opponents.

Relegated Hull Ionians were beaten home and away when Bob Kimmins’ Sedgley marched to promotion to National League Level Four in 1996/97.

Other dates to note from the fixture list are the Lancashire derbies against Preston Grasshoppers.

They visit Park Lane on October 11 with the reverse fixture on January 24.
