PRESTWICH CC crack open the new season tomorrow with an exciting clash against Westhoughton.
The Heys club plays host to their Bolton League rivals in the first round of the National Knockout Cup.
With the Greene King Lancashire County League season not starting until April 26, the 45-over cup contest will act as an ideal test of early-season form.
Under the leadership of Andy Bradley, the side will be hoping to wrestle back the league title from 2013 winners Denton West.
Carl Hey will be the professional for a second season, but South African signing Ryan Stanbury is not eligible for tomorrow’s cup game.
Wickets for the Westhoughton encounter are pitched at 1pm.
The team has already had a taste of the raw outdoors with a trip to Micklehurst last Sunday, where they blew away the cobwebs with a total of 237 all out (Sam Holden 64) before dismissing the home side for 82, with 15-year-old Nathan Bailey claiming three late wickets. On Saturday, Prestwich will travel to Central Lancashire League side Heywood for another friendly.
