WITH just six games of the campaign remaining Sedgley Tigers coach, Geoff Roberts, is hoping his side can finish the season on a high.
The Tigers, who enjoyed a scheduled break at the weekend, return to National League Two North action on Saturday with a trip to relegation-threatened Bromsgrove, who sit second bottom of the league.
Despite the difference in league positions, fourth-placed Tigers are expecting a much tougher test than the 90-5 victory they achieved in the reverse fixture back in November.
In that match the Tigers ran in 12 tries, with fly-half Steve Collins grabbing himself 35 points, in a record-breaking home win, which was eclipsed two weeks later as the Tigers crushed Dudley Kingswinford 111-15 at Park Lane.
Roberts said: “Bromsgrove are not going to be easy to beat. We certainly can’t write them off.
“They played Birmingham at home at the weekend and took them to six points.
“Birmingham are a good outfit, so Bromsgrove have either improved or Birmingham weren’t quite on their form.
“Roberts, however is in confident mood ahead of the fixture.
He said: “We’ll definitely go there in upbeat mood. It would be nice to finish off the season with a smile on our faces.
“I do expect a much more competitive game."
Roberts will again be without injured centre Mike Waywell (finger) and has fitness concerns over captain Juan Crous and scrum-half Callum McShane (groin injuries), who both may need operations.
“We are carrying a couple of injury problems,” he said.
“We are looking ahead to next season now, so if there are one or two lads that need operations we are looking to do them as early as possible.”
