PRESTWICH CC: South African Ryan Stanbury signs on

PRESTWICH Cricket Club have strengthened their first team for the 2014 season by signing Ryan Stanbury.

The 21-year-old is an opening bowler and top-order batsman, who is originally from the KwaZulu-Natal province in South Africa.

During 2013, Ryan played for Pontblyddyn in the North Wales Premier Division where he made a highest score of 123 and had a best bowling return of 6-23.

Andy Bradley remains first-team captain and Carl Hey has been retained as professional, although the side will be without the services of Danny Jones who left towards the end of last season to work in Dubai.

As a precursor to the start of the league season, Prestwich will play Westhoughton in the first round of the National Knockout competition at The Heys on Friday, April 18. Their Lancashire County League campaign gets underway on April 26 with a home fixture against Woodhouses.
