STAND put in their most convincing performance of the season to demolish Denton St Lawrence by 144 runs on Saturday.
They were asked to bat first in the Lancashire County League match and posted a formidable 239, thanks largely to a determined 84 from Alex Bell.
Rick Rothwell (26), Andy Holt (24) and Matt Curphey (18) all weighed in with runs as well but it was an incredible 64 extras – including 45 wides – that boosted the total.
Second XI bowler Turvey was the pick of the home attack with 5-51.
The home side started their run chase quite promisingly, aiming to produce some good cricket and hit back against a Stand side in good form.
But they were unable to deliver and after putting on 27 for the first wicket, Farad Ali dismissed Garnett, caught behind for 15.
Adam Hawley and Dillnutt moved the score on to 58-1, before Hawley was run out at the non-striker’s end by the right boot of Ali.
The home side then collapsed and it was just a matter of time before Stand ran out convincing winners as DSL fell from 58-1 to 96 all out.
Pete Walters bowled a superb spell taking 4-26 and Curphey chipped in with 3-5 to seal the win.
