AN INAUGURAL indoor netball league has drawn to a thrilling conclusion, ending in a dramatic final.

Over seven weeks teams from across the borough competed in the tournament held at Philips Sports Centre in Whitefield.

The teams from Ribble Drive, Our Lady of Grace, St Margaret's, King David, St Philips and Higher lane schools battled it out across two divisions — each playing one another twice.

The top two in each division then played off in a finals night.

The rising standard of netball shone as King David beat Ribble Drive and OLOG beat St Margaret's in two closely fought 9-6 matches.

Ribble Drive then went on to claim third place, before a tense final saw King David and OLOG draw four apiece to share the trophy.

John Cihlar from Prestwich and Whitefield JSSA, said: "The children put so much effort into their play and they were all a credit to their schools.

"Thanks must go to the staff at Philips Sports Centre as they provided all the umpires who performed their task perfectly."
