RADIO listeners will be waking up to a familiar sound on Monday.

After an absence of nearly two years while guiding home drive-time audiences, Jon Holling is returning to host Tower FM's breakfast show.

The popular presenter is back in the Bolton and Bury station's early-morning slot after swapping with current presenter Glen Hunt, who will take on the drive-time show.

At 4am on Monday, Jon's alarm clock will ring in the new era — and the popular presenter is raring do go.

Jon said: "It'll be an early start for the first time in a log while, but I am really looking forward to it.

"Glen has young kids and it suited him better doing the afternoon show.

"We have had a really good response on social media since we announced it and people are looking forward to the show, as well as to Glen taking over in the afternoons.

"We are introducing some new features, such as Top of the Class, when we'll be broadcasting from a different school each week and on Wednesday, Glen and I will be doing a 12-hour broadcast for the Tower FM Toy Appeal and Bolton's Big Christmas Toy Appeal.

"It is completely different to the drive-time show, bringing news and highlighting what's going on, whereas the drive-time is at the end of the working day, people just want to know what's happening with their journey home and good music. They don't want in-depth discussions and features."

Jon last presented the breakfast show in February, 2014, with co-host Vix Robinson, when the pair were suddenly replaced by Simon Morykin.

He left the station two months later and then Glen took over.

This time, Jon will be presenting the 6am to 10am show on his own.

He said said: "We have a great team and there is plenty of support.

"There will be a big focus on being local and we will be talking about things happening in Bolton and Bury.

"There will be guests and plenty of callers so it hopefully won't seem as if I'm on my own."
