POLICE have issued a warning after a number of fake banknotes were found to be in circulation.
Several fake Scottish £20 notes have been reported being used for transactions by shops in Whitefield and Bury.
The notes can be distinguished by the water mark – which appears unclear when compared to authentic currency.
A spokesman for GMP Whitefield on Twitter said: “Alert. A number of fake Scottish £20s being punted out to shops around Whitefield and Bury: watermark appears unclear.”
