YOUNGSTERS revelled in an action-packed summer fun day while parents picked up some useful advice.

Six Town Housing officials laid on a day of activities in Victoria Park, Whitefield, on July 28 and more than 100 people came along.

Children had their faces painted, met a balloon model, had a go on a bouncy castle, and made smoothies using a bicycle.

Adults, meanwhile, joined in with a yoga session and got access to a wide range of help on subjects such as finding a job, financial management, energy efficiency and debt reduction.

One of those attending was Joanne Simpson, aged 45, of Victoria Avenue, Whitefield.

She said: "It's always tricky to find things to do to keep your kids entertained in the school holidays so this was a really good thing to be able to come to.

"As well as that, it's great that you can speak to advisers about money issues. I picked up some really useful tips."

Karen Taylor, aged 38, of Moss Lane, Whitefield, added: "The yoga was a lot of fun.

"It's good that they are putting things like this on for families to join in with."
