A WOMAN has been told to keep her dog on a short lead — or face having it put down.
The cocker spaniel named Falco was on a long lead while being walked along Pine Avenue, Whitefield, on June 18 when it bit passer-by Thomas Redmond, aged 26, on the thigh.
Mr Redmond suffered a gash to his upper leg and had to be treated for his injuries at a walk-in centre.
The incident was reported to police, and co-owner Edita Luksiene, aged 30, of Pine Avenue, Whitefield, was summoned to appeared before Bury magistrates where she admitted one count of owning a dog that was dangerously out of control in a public place.
She was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to keep the dog under proper control.
It must be muzzled and on a short lead when in any public place and, will be put down if any of the conditions are breached, the court ordered.
