A CHARITY based in Whitefield has received a £15,000 grant to champion community spirit across the borough.

Hope Fellowship Community Interest Company (CIC) will use the money to fund a two-year project aimed at building a stronger sense of community throughout Bury.

The project will involve running monthly social activities for people of all ages.

Money to fund the scheme was raised via HealthSustain Community Interest Company (CIC), through The Health Lottery. The grant was awarded by People’s Health Trust, an organisation which supports community groups and not-for-profit organisations with an income of less than £350,000 a year.

Chris Lunn, director of HealthSustain CIC, said: “This project is extremely valuable to a wide range of individuals in the Bury area. We look forward to hearing more about how this initiative supports people to live longer healthier lives.”

John Hume, chief executive of People’s Health Trust, added: “We are delighted to be investing in local organisations with great ideas to make their communities even better places to grow, live, work and age.”
