MEP caught up in India terror attacks

NORTH West Euro MP Sajjad Karim has been caught up in the terror attacks in Mumbai in India.

The Conservative MEP said he ran for cover when gunmen walked into the lobby in the Taj Mahal Hotel and started shooting people.

Mr Karim said he saw bodies falling down all around him, and, as The Guide went to press, his whereabouts are unknown.

A radical Islamist group has been blamed for the attacks, during which more than 100 people are reported to have been killed and others taken hostage.

Mr Karim, aged 38, was part of a Brussels trade delegation, ahead of an EU-India summit. He was elected to the European Parliament in 2004 as a Lib Dem, but switched to the Tories in 2007.
