* A TEACHERS’ strike could not be solved by paying teachers two-thirds more as it would cost too much, councillors said.

* DEVELOPERS submitted a plan to build 48 homes at The Holme in Sedgley Park Road, Prestwich.

* THOUSANDS of spectators watched the final of the BP Youth Hovercraft competition in Heaton Park.

* PRESTWICH CC were knocked out of the Walkden Cup.
