l—A WOULD-BE thief failed in his an attempt to rob a 32-year-old man in Kings Road, Sedgley, when the man refused to let go of a cash bag.
l—THE FIRST ever Greater Manchester map of the green belt, including parts of Prestwich and Whitefield, went to print.
l—STUDENTS from Stand College in Whitefield announced they had raised £1,200 in the last 16 months to help poor people in Ethiopia.
l—PC Neil Murray earned a chief constable’s commendation for tackling two axe-wielding thugs outside his neighbour’s house in Whitefield.
l—SIMISTER-Beehive made it through to the Bury and District Sunday League President’s Cup final, beating FC Bonar Pak 3-1 away after drawing 2-2 at home.
