A NEW craft and messy play venue has quickly built up a reputation for a fun day out.

The Place To Potter has opened at Heaton Park Garden Centre and offers children and adults a place to explore their creative side.

It offers a variety of sessions each day from pottery painting and crochet to singing and mindfulness.

Manager Paul Kersh, aged 51, is thrilled with the success The Place To Potter has had so far. He said: “I’m running it with my girlfriend, Kelly Bentley, we have always wanted to do a community creative class activity centre for children and adults to be able to come and be creative.

“Our aim is to reach out and connect to the wider community, inviting all ages from toddlers to the over 60’s to come and enjoy some time out crafting and socialising.”

Alongside a whole host of craft supplies, the venue also has two ‘mud kitchens’, one indoor and the other outdoor for children to indulge in messy play.

Mr Kersh, who lives in Old Hall Road, Whitefield, called the venue in the garden centre an ideal opportunity to give something back to the community.

He has previously owned Alt House in Whitefield, which he opened as a hub for local people. The Place To Potter has been set up in the garden centre off Bury Old Road and teas, coffee and soft drinks are available.

Mr Kersh suggests popping into the Hidden Gem cafe in the garden centre if more sustenance is needed.
