Man damaged woman’s hair extensions

A MAN has appeared in court after damaging a woman’s hair extensions.

James Boore, aged 27, of Beechwood Avenue, Ramsbottom, admitted to Bury magistrates that he damaged the extensions in Bury on September 1 and they cost £250 to replace.

He also admitted breaching a restraining order on the same day.

Boore must pay the woman £50 compensation.

Man caught with cannabis

KYLE Foster, aged 21, of Massey Street, Freetown, has been given a 12-month conditional discharge after admitting to Bury magistrates that he was in possession of six snap bags of cannabis in Bury on August 9.

He must also pay £105 court costs.

Shoplifter, 48, swiped whisky

DAMIEN Lee Richardson, 48, of Spencer Street, Elton, admitted to Bury magistrates that he stole whisky worth £140 from Morrisons in Whitefield on August 26.

He also admitted stealing headphones worth £525 from Tesco in Cheetham Hill on September 1. He was given a community order including treatment for drug dependency for 12 months.

Woman guilty over attack

KARENZA Chapman, aged 25, of Kestrel Drive, Bury, has been ordered to do 40 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months after admitting that she assaulted a man in Bury on August 22.

She must also pay £170 court costs.

Car vandal to pick up tab

A VANDAL who damaged two cars has been ordered to repay the vehicle’s owners.

Bradley Humphreys, aged 25, of Oak Lane, Whitefield, admitted to Bury magistrates that he damaged a black Mazda belonging to Lucy Royds and a silver Hyundai belonging to Thomas Bailey in Bury on July 27.

The damage cost a total of £730 to repair.

Magistrates ordered Humphreys to foot the bill by paying compensation to each motorist.

He must also do 60 hours of unpaid work.

Drugs driver’s 18-month ban

A MOTORIST was caught in possession of cannabis — and then refused to let police test his blood.

Samuel Lodge, aged 18, of Sherbourne Court, Prestwich, drove a Vauxhall Astra in Grundy Road, Prestwich, on August 11, without a licence or insurance.

He admitted two motoring offences to Bury magistrates and also admitted possession of drugs and failing to do a blood test.

Lodge was banned from driving for 18 months and ordered to pay £85 court costs.

Thief warned he faces jail

A CONVICTED shoplifter has been warned he faces jail if he keeps missing unpaid-work appointments.

Ryan Livesey, aged 19, of Beechcroft, Prestwich, was convicted of stealing computer games and a diamond ring from a woman in Chesterfield in February 2015.

As part of his sentence, he was ordered to do unpaid work, but he admitted to Bury magistrates that he failed to attend sessions on July 19 and July 20.

He was given an eight-week prison sentence suspended for a year.

Man drunk and disorderly

JOEL Brook, aged 23, of Percy Street, Freetown, has been given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £105 court costs after admitting to Bury magistrates that he was drunk and disorderly in Haymarket Street, Bury, on August 13.

Man fined for theft

STEPHEN Parkinson, aged 23, of Thrush Drive, Freetown, was ordered to pay £195 in fines and court costs after admitting to Bury magistrates that he stole clothes worth £265 from Primark in Bury on August 17.

Fine and ban for drink-driver

A DRINK-driver has been banned from getting behind the wheel for 20 months.

Marcin Lisowski, aged 34, of Grange Grove, Whitefield, admitted to Bury magistrates that he drove a BMW in Bury New Road, Prestwich, on August 16 while over the legal limit.

He must pay £690 in fines and costs.

Costs to repair broken glass

MARTIN Low, aged 28, of Duckworth Road, Prestwich, has been ordered by Bury magistrates to pay £200 compensation to a man whose windows he damaged.

Low admitted to Bury magistrates that he damaged after he admitted damaging windows belonging to Paul Reger in Bury on July 10.

He was also ordered to pay a total of £245 in fines and court costs.

Woman told she must work

A WOMAN has been ordered to do 80 hours of unpaid work by a court after being convicted of assault.

Alice Terry, 62, of Venwood Road, Prestwich, was accused of assaulting Manualla Moko in the Prestwich area on January 27.

She pleaded not guilty at Bury Magistrates’ Court but was found guilty after a trial.

Terry was given a community order, which includes a requirement to do the unpaid work within the next year.

Bury magistrates said she must also pay £460 court costs.

Not guilty on neglect charge

A CARE worker accused of neglecting a man has been cleared of any wrongdoing.

Nmaemeka Onyegbuna, aged 40, of Mabel’s Brow, Farnworth, had been accused of being a care worker and ill-treating or wilfully neglecting a man in Prestwich on October 8, 2015.

At a trial at Bury Magistrates Court last week, Onyegbuna denied pleaded not guilty to the charge at Bury Magistrates Court and and was cleared of the charge after a trial at the same court on September 7.

Woman’s attacker given suspended sentence

A MAN who attacked a woman by choking her has been warned he could go to jail if he reoffends.

Kurt Darbyshire, 26, of Heys Road, Prestwich, was charged with assaulting the woman and damaging her car in Bury on May 24.

At Bury Magistrates’ Court he pleaded not guilty to both charges.

However, he was found guilty of both after a trial.

Magistrates said the offence was serious because it was a sustained attack involving choking.

They said that although Darbyshire had no previous convictions, he did not deserve a discounted sentence because he denied the offence.

He was given a 12-week prison sentence suspended for a year.

He was also ordered to attend appointments with a probation worker over the next 12 months.

Darbyshire must also stay away from the woman for at least a year — this order coming under the terms of a restraining order.

He must also pay her £120 compensation and £435 court costs.

Drink-driver banned for year

A DRINK-DRIVER has been banned from getting behind the wheel for a year.

Olwyn Coundley, aged 61, of Coronation Gardens, Radcliffe, drove a Citroen C3 car along that street on August 13, while over the legal alcohol limit.

She admitted drink-driving to Bury magistrates and was also ordered to pay £437 in fines and court costs.

Man pleads guilty to assault charge

A RADCLIFFE man has been given a 12-month conditional discharge for assaulting a man.

Elliot Currie, 20, of Gate Lane, admitted to Bury magistrates that he committed the offence in Bury on May 21.

He was also fined £85 and ordered to pay £100 compensation to the man.

Currie must also pay a £20 victim surcharge.

Driver fled after hitting fence

A DRINK-DRIVER who crashed his car through fencing and then drove off has been spared jail.

Ashley Turner, aged 26, of Bridgefield Street, Radcliffe, drove a Peugeot 206 in Bury Road, Radcliffe, on June 11 and smashed through temporary fencing.

He appeared before Bury magistrates and admitted driving without a licence, without insurance and without due care and attention as well as drink-driving and failing to stop at the scene of a crash.

Turner was given a 20-week prison sentence suspended for 18 months and banned from driving for three years.

He must also do 150 hours of unpaid work and pay £298 in fines and court costs.

Woman admits town assault

CLAIRE Birchall, aged 37, of Coronation Road, Radcliffe, has appeared in court charged with assault.

Birchall admitted assault to Bury magistrates that she assaulted a woman in Bury on May 30.

She was given a 12-month conditional discharge for the assault.

She must also pay £105 court costs.

Prison threat for candle thief

A CANDLE thief has been warned he faces jail if he reoffends in the next 12 months.

Stephen Reeves, aged 49, of York Street, Radcliffe, was charged with stealing Yankee candles worth £49 from Clintons in Bury and Lynx gift sets worth £24 from Bodycare in Bury, both on May 12.

Reeves denied both charges at Bury Magistrates Court and was found guilty of both after a trial.

He was given a 10-week prison sentence suspended for a year and was ordered to do undergo treatment for drug dependency.

Reeves must also pay £780 court costs.

Magistrates said the offences were serious as Reeves had only been released from prison two days earlier and they said he had an appalling record of dishonesty.
