Community order imposed

A WOMAN has been given a community order after admitting an attack.
Roberta Heenan, aged 18, of Spencer Street, Bury, admitted to Bury magistrates on December 11 last year that she assaulted a woman in Bury on May 24, last year.
At a sentencing hearing on March 29, Heenan was told she must do 80 hours of unpaid work and pay £150 compensation to her victim, plus a £60 victim surcharge.

Three-year ban for drug-driver

A MAN who drove under the influence of cannabis has been banned from driving for three years.
Marc Crayton, aged 39, of Mountside Crescent, Prestwich, drove a Nissan Juke in Stanhope Avenue, Prestwich, on June 3 last year while under the influence of the drug, and without insurance.
He admitted two motoring offences to Bury magistrates last Thursday and was also given a two-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge.

Year’s ban for drink driver

A MAN caught drink driving in Prestwich has been banned from getting behind the wheel for a year.
Jozef Krajcirik, aged 41, of Old Market Street, Manchester, drove a Volkswagen Tiguan in Bury Old Road on July 19 last year.
He denied the offence to Bury magistrates on September 11 but was found guilty last Thursday after a trial.
Krajcirik was also ordered to pay £1,042 in court costs and fines.

Shoplifter, 71, sent to prison

A PENSIONER has been jailed for six weeks for stealing from a Whitefield supermarket.
Batool Bibi, aged 71, of Kilkerran Close, Chorley, went to Morrisons on March 14 and stole £85.93 of groceries.
She admitted the offence to Bury magistrates on March 15 and was sentenced at a further hearing last Thursday.
Magistrates said the offence was serious because of Bibi's extensive record of offending.
She was also ordered to pay £85 court costs and an £80 victim surcharge.
Bibi was not ordered to pay compensation to the supermarket as the groceries were recovered.

Points for driver after light jump

A WOMAN who jumped a red light in Prestwich tried to claim it was justified due to an emergency.
Nicola Power, aged 27, was driving a Vauxhall car at the junction of Bury New Road and Fairfax Road on July 28 last year when she drove through a set of traffic lights, seven seconds after the lights changed to red.
Power initially pleaded not guilty at Bury Magistrates Court on the grounds that there were special reasons for not endorsing the charge as the circumstances amounted to an emergency.
However the court did not accept that argument and Power changed her plea to guilty at a hearing last Thursday.
Three points were added to her licence and she was ordered to pay £130 court costs and fines.

Bike thief gets a year’s discharge

A THIEF from Radcliffe who stole a bike worth £450 from Decathlon in Bolton has been conditionally discharged for 12 months.
Shannon Wilkinson, aged 18, of Lever Street, Radcliffe, admitting stealing a BTWIN Rockrider bicycle from the sports shop on January 28.
She was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and costs of £85 by Bolton magistrates.
