SINGERS, dancers and all kinds of performers are being asked to take centre stage

For a group of experienced showbiz judges are urging people to enter a spectacular Prestwich's Got Talent competition, which starts later this month.

The contest, which is taking place in aid of Bury Hospice, is expected to attract a whole host of entrants and an expert judging panel will size up their skills.

The first hurdle will be an audition stage at the Longfield Suite in Prestwich, from 11am to 4pm on Saturday September 26.

A live final in front of an audience will then take place at the same venue at 7.30pm on October 2.

It is being organised by Jo Bernstein, who used to run Class Act Youth Theatre in Prestwich, and she will be on the judging panel along veteran singers and talent spotters Brian and Maxine Warner, from Whitefield.

Ms Bernstein said: "The hospice is a great cause and this is the perfect way to celebrate the talent of Prestwich and the surrounding area while aiding the amazing work staff and volunteers do there.

"We're very excited about the contest. Maybe we will unearth a future star of the stage."

She added: "We are looking forward to the auditions and would encourage people to come along on the day and show off their talents."

The contest is open to those aged 10 and above.

Audience tickets for October 2 cost £10 for adults and £5 for under 16s and over 65s, with all proceeds going to the hospice. There will be a licensed bar on the night.

Tickets are available on the night or in advance by calling Ms Bernstein on 07968 762 205 or by emailing classactyt@hotmail.com
