Prestwich's newest restaurant opened its doors tonight with an extra special launch.

Solita, Bury New Road, welcomed customers, supporters and local business people for its first night on Thursday.

They were treated to tasters aplenty of Solita's mouth-watering menu - including cheeseburger spring rolls, deep fried mac n cheese balls and bacon double cheese burgers.

Guests paid a donation for the Not Just Soup Kitchen charity, which supports homeless people.

The burger restaurant brand, run by Bolton restaurateurs Francesco Sotgiu and Simon Pogson, has taken over the former Bombay Indian restaurant, as well as the ex-Aumbry fine dining eaterie.

The renovation work has taken seven months to complete.

More than 9,000 people contacted Solita to book places for its soft launch, which will see diners receive money off their food bill while staff settle into the day-to-day running.
