MOTORISTS are being warned to drive safely during thunderstorms forecast for Thursday and Friday.
The Met Office has warned people in Greater Manchester to be aware of a risk of "very heavy and thundery rainfall leading to the risk of surface water."
Forecasts said the risk of flooding is very low but sudden rain showers could lead to surface water hampering drivers.
Circulating the Met Office advice, Prestwich and Whitefield Township Forum co-ordinator Ruth Shedwick said: "The south of Bury has areas that are prone to surface water, especially on some stretches of motorway.
"We urge residents to be careful and take the necessary precautions when driving."
