POLICE have released a CCTV image of a man who set fire to a bin and caused £750,000 worth of damage to an adjacent property.

At around 1.30am on June 21, a man approached the unit on the Sedgley Park Trading Estate and pushed a large bin in front of the door.

He then set it on fire, which spread from the bin and ripped through the nearby unit, causing damage that cost £750,000 to repair.

There is no description of the offender.

PC Dilesh Adesara, of Bury Police, said: "I appreciate the picture does not allow for the best look at the offender, but it is the best we have and I am hoping it may jog the memory of anyone who was in the area at the time.

"This man has caused considerable damage and potentially put people’s lives at risk, although thankfully no one was hurt as a result.

"If you believe you recognise this man, or saw anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident, please contact police."

Call police on 101 with information.
