TWO local "good causes" are £7,000 better off thanks to money raised through the Mayor of Bury’s charity appeal.
Councillor Michelle Wiseman chose The North West Air Ambulance and the new Grace's Place children’s hospice in Radcliffe as her designated charities during her mayoral year, which recently ended.
Cllr Wiseman, who represents Pilkington Park and is now deputy mayor, presented the cheques — each for £3,500 — to representatives of the two charities in the mayor’s parlour.
She said: “I was delighted to be able to support these two very worthy charities during my mayoral year. Thanks must go to all who helped to organise and support fundraising events during my term in office, which included the mayoral ball, a quiz and mayoral golf tournament.
“Many donations have also been sent directly to these two charities in the course of my mayoral year.”
