ERRANT cyclists have long been the bugbear of Prestwich shoppers but one rider has taken things a whole new dangerous level.

For CCTV cameras have captured a motorcyclist weaving in and out of people on the Longfield Centre precinct to the shock of traders, shoppers and police.

The footage is from just after 4.15pm on Friday March 27 and shows the mystery rider treating the paved area as their own personal road.

Andrew Hardman, who was passing at the time, said: "I was quite distance away, but I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

"We have enough problems with cyclists, but this is even worse.

"He was going quite slow, but he should not have been riding his motorbike so close to pedestrians.

"People were very close to him. What if he had lost control?"

Jamie Bomsztyk uploaded the footage to the internet.

He said: "Is Prestwich Village now a main road? He nearly knocked over two kids as he turned the corner.

"Something needs to be done about it."

Prestwich Police chiefs have circulated the video and have asked anyone with information to contact them.

A spokesman said: "In the recent past, there have been collisions in this particular area involving cyclists. Riding a motorbike in a pedestrianised area is even worse.

"If anyone knows who this person is, they shuld get in touch with us on 101."
