ALE drinkers will be able to tap into another Prestwich Beer Festival in 12 months' time - after it was a case of 'all hands to the pumps'.

Organisers were so impressed with the mammoth turnout, which culminated in a night of entertainment on Saturday, they have announced the show will be back for a third year.

More than 2,000 people packed into the Longfield Suite over the three days to enjoy a wide range of beer as well as food and live music.

Organisers are set to donate about £1,000 in entrance fees to the Forever Manchester charity, which funds community activities across the county.

Martin Holland, who helped organise the festival, said: "It was better than we had hoped for and we are thrilled with how it went.

"We sold out of all our keg beers and cask ales on Saturday night. Selling out of beer is a sign of a successful festival.

"The team worked their socks off to pull it off, but it all came together and I am pleased that a good cause is benefitting too.

"We shall be returning again in 2016."

However, the event was not to everyone's taste.

One man complained on Facebook that there was a queue to get in and at the bar, and that beer sold out too quickly.

He said: "In my opinion, a beer festival running out of beer at 8.45pm when last orders were due at 1am is a pretty poor show."

Another visitor Patrick Boyle added: "Making a limited amount of tickets available in advance and having a pay-on-the-door option is a recipe for disaster.

"A few members of our group have stated they were unlikely to come back next year."

A festival spokesman responded: "The whole event is under review.

"We did try to make sure that we were notifying all those coming in later on that the ales were running low.

"Unfortunately, it isn't possible to know how much beer has been sold from the casks and it also takes 24 to 48 hours should we have tried to order any more."
