POLICE have released dramatic images of a mask gang robbing a Whitefield shop.

As previously reported on this website, the gang stormed into the Spar shop in Ribble Drive at just before 9.30pm on February 25 and threatened staff with a hammer and a crowbar.

They then stole cash from the till and cigarettes before fleeing.

Police described the men as white, with their faces covered and all wearing black clothing and black gloves.

Det Con Martin Brown, of Bury Police, said: "Two employees were confronted and threatened by the offenders, two of whom were armed with hammers.

"Thankfully, they weren't injured but to experience such an ordeal while trying to do your job would be traumatic for anyone.

"We have release d a series of CCTV stills of the suspects and I would encourage anyone who recognises the men from the stills or knows anything about those responsible to get in touch."
