SUPERMARKET staff were left terrified after a gang of men carrying hammers robbed the shop.
Four men ran into the Iceland store in the Longfield Centre, Prestwich, at just after 6pm last night.
The masked men confronted staff with hammers and stole almost £600 before running off.
Witnesses described the men as white and said they spoke English but did not use Mancunian accents.
Police said they arrested six men, in their late teens or early 20s at a flat near to the scene at about 6.30pm.
