A ROAD through Prestwich was closed by police in the aftermath of a serious car accident.
Meade Hill Road was shut at the junction with Middleton Road on the border of Blackley and Prestwich after a collision occurred at around 3.45pm.
A blue BMW collided with a Chevrolet Matiz, which had two elderly passengers.
An elderly woman was taken to Salford Hope Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The BMW's driver fled the scene on foot and is still being searched for by police.
Witnesses to the accident are being asked to come forward and anyone with information should call police on 101.
